The House of Light, built encircling a single Japanese ash tree. Its layout guides you around the tree’s perimeter before leading to the entrance. As you ascend the stairs, or when soft sunlight filters through the bedroom skylight, it quietly reminds you that this place is nestled within nature.
The kitchen is placed on the first floor to allow the connection to the earth to be felt with all five senses. The bedrooms are positioned on the second floor so you can rest as if a bird perched on a branch. This layout enables lighthearted living in harmony with nature.
Viewed from above, this building resembles the letter “R”.
Beyond the environmental principles of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle,
it embodies the spirit of R rooted in agriculture and regeneration:Respect for nature, Regenerate symbolizing the cycle of soil and life, Reap signifying harvest, and Rural representing the essence of rural life.
May this inn become a place where you can touch the earth with respect for nature, savor its bounty, and refresh both body and mind.
